Rick Frederick

Executive Director

Work Experience
I worked for 20 years as a Youth/Family Ministry Director in various congregations. I also have 15 years of experience in Outdoor Ministry as a Program Director/Assistant Director/Executive Director

Family
I am married to DeAnna Frederick, and we have 2 sons, Adam and Ben, and our four legged child Mac, a mixed breed dog.

Where did you grow up?
I was born in New York City and there for almost 3 years, then moved to Charleston South Carolina. I lived and worked there as a coach/teacher, attended Seminary and began working for the church in 1984.

Hobbies
Golfing, reading, hiking

What brought you to RWBC?
I was called to get back into Lutheran Outdoor ministry after spending 5 years working with the Methodist and Presbyterians. I saw a camp with a desire to spread God’s Word and serve God’s People in new ways while honoring old traditions.

What are some of your dreams for RWBC?
I would like to improve the infrastructure of camp to meet the needs of our programs going into the future. An Endowment Fund that can be used to support new programs and continue to improve the appearance of the facility is also a dream of mine, while trying to find new opportunities to serve a wider range of people and needs.

Megan Myers

Assistant Director

Work Experience
I grew up going to camp and became a counselor as soon as I could! I worked at Lutherhill Ministries for 5 years on summer staff and was a program assistant there. I also recently spent a year in the mountains at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp as a Program Assistant.

Family
My family lives in Texas and think I’m a little crazy for moving to North Dakota! My parents live in the Houston area and my brother goes to school in Dallas.

Where did you grow up?
Texas!

Hobbies
Playing with my cats Basil & Rathbone; gardening; crafting – crocheting and quilting

What brought you to RWBC?
The community and history here – I love that the people who love RWBC are so passionate about the camp and its rich history. Every time I go to a church, someone tells me their memories of RWBC from long ago and I love hearing their stories!

What are some of your dreams for RWBC?
I hope that RWBC touches peoples’ lives the way mine has been touched by camp. I learned who I was made to be and how to be that person at camp. I hope everyone who comes here leaves believing they are loved and there is a community here who supports them.

I was born in western NY and lived for 13 years in Canisteo, moved to St. Petersburg, FL and lived there for 11 years.  I then moved to SC where I met and married Rick.  Over the years we have lived in NC, OH, PA, KY and now ND.

Hobbies

What brought you to RWBC?
Rick did!  I’m very happy to be a part of RWBC.  This part of ND is the prettiest place I have ever lived.

What are some of your dreams for RWBC?
I would love to see more people come here and enjoy the peace and serenity that is RWBC.  This is a great place to disconnect from the busyness of everyday life.  The camp is at its best when people are here exploring nature, laughing, and enjoying the company of others.

Where did you grow up?
I grew up around Tioga in western North Dakota

Hobbies
Horses, 4-wheeling, good old country music, kayaking, and the animals

What brought you to RWBC?
The serenity and peace of the camp took my breathe away.  The camp position also allowed me an opportunity to do what I love, which is helping others and working with individuals with special needs, along with my passion for outdoor beauty.

What are some of your dreams for RWBC?
I pray that within the next 5 years, we can afford to build a new retreat center which could be handicap accessible, place sidewalks throughout the camp for easier access to all areas, and encourage everyone to experience the serenity and peace you may find here.  It is a place in which you feel God’s arms around you at all times.
