Volunteer Focus
The focus this month is on volunteers! Here is a snapshot of accomplishments and planned work from church and family groups:
Work Around the Camp
On April 26th, nine men from Mabel Lutheran Church at Sutton and the surrounding area arrived with their tool trucks, post hole digger and a lot of ambition. They took down a tree and put up a new fence in front of the camp directors home for starters. After lunch, they completed the installation of chain link fencing around the camp swimming pool. The previous fence was damaged by a falling tree many years ago, and it is now replaced. Thanks to all of you, and especially the organizer, Jim Dramstad of Sutton.
Thanks also to the Mayville Pastors Conference clergy who met here April 15 and helped paint and do a mailing.
Adopt-a-Cabin
Phoebe Cabin
The next group up is the 'Satrom Spirit' family, who decided in 2007 to adopt Phoebe Cabin and make it into the camp's handicapped accessible women's cabin. In September 2007 they began by having a steel roof installed, and this spring had two new 36" doors put in as well as all new windows. During the April 25-26 work weekend, they painted the interior, poured a concrete walkway to the girl's bathhouse, and started insulating and siding the cabin.
Mark Cabin
The congregation at Our Savor's Lutheran Church in Valley City have adopted Mark Cabin, and the first weekend in May they will begin a very ambitious renovation project. New green steel roof and skirting, new windows and doors and new paint inside and out are a few of their goals for the cabin. Their long term goals are to build a fire escape deck/stairs on the back of the cabin, and finishing up with vinyl siding.
Joshua Cabin
Members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lisbon have chosen to adopt Joshua Cabin, and to bring it up to compliance as our men's handicapped accessible cabin. Their work crew is set to begin working the first weekend of May. They will be putting on a new green steel roof and painting the siding. They also have plans to replace the two doors and install new windows. Updated paint and flooring will also be on the list.
Esther Cabin
Esther Cabin will also get some attention this year as members of Zion Lutheran Church at Grand Rapids will be working to fix some structural deficiencies and begin to replace doors and windows. One of their goals is to add a deck to the back of the cabin which will overlook the lake.
Ruth Cabin
This cabin was formerly known as 'Little Norway' and is likely our oldest cabin. The congregations of Pastor Sharron Lucas at Sheyenne/Oberon have adopted this lovely little cabin, and will begin working on it in the coming year.
Timothy Cabin
This cabin has had a lot of tender loving care over the past years thanks to the folks from Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown. They have come to the camp several times a year to clean, fix and remodel the cabin. This year they will paint the siding. They have winterized the cabin for year around use, and have made quilts and put in space heaters for our guests.
Luke Cabin
Luke Cabin has also seen a huge overhaul over the past 4 years thanks to Gary Hegland of Fargo and his family. He has insulated it for winter camping, added an exhaust fan to cool it in the summer, and put in a new door and windows.
Bethlehem Cabin
Another faithful group is Grace Lutheran Church in Oakes. They have been cleaning the cabin faithfully each spring, and this year will replace the screen door and look at other needs.
Retreat Theme Rooms
A big thank you to the United Lutheran Church Women of Brocket for coming to clean the six theme rooms in the retreat center they and their members have adopted.

Camp Work Days
May 10, May 17, May 30-31
Getting the camp ready for summer campers is a big job...and one we just can't do alone.
So....we invite you to come to camp for a few hours or a few days to help in a way that works for you. Love to rake oak leaves? We have a rake for you! Enjoy painting? We have the supplies. Prefer to do a little wood working? We have windows to install, doors to hang and the tools to make it happen.
The improvements to our camp over the past three years are astounding...and it is happening because our friends and supporters are coming out to help. Most of our cabins and all of our theme rooms in the retreat center have been adopted.
The chapel could use a few more sponsoring churches to prepare it for its 60th Anniversary in 2009. Call us....we would be happy to match you, your family or church group to a worthwhile project.
Call 701-676-2681 and ask for Ken Gilbertson or Denny Goetz to schedule your church, family or yourself for a trip to Red Willow Bible Camp. We can provide your meals and lodging. Can't wait to see you there!
New Website
We are all very excited about what our new web site looks like and what it can do for you! Please take a minute to click here and visit us online.
