Thinking of Spring!

Volunteers: Spring Cleaning

by Ken Gilbertson, Site Manager

When you look outside now, it may not seem like it, but winter will soon be loosening its grip on us. With spring comes a flurry of activity out here at the camp. Last spring, we had many groups working on cabins and doing general maintenance.

All the cabins have been now adopted, with the exception of Matthew, which is currently used for Arts and Crafts. A couple cabins are complete and many are in various stages of remodel. By the time campers start coming this summer, more work will be completed by many volunteers.

Lakeshore at Red Willow Bible CampWe are starting to schedule groups to do maintenance and cleaning this spring. If your church or family group would like to come out for a weekend and rake, paint, or any of a variety of jobs, just give a call and we can set that up any weekend before June 15th.

Spring is a great time to come and see Red Willow Bible Camp and help us get ready for another summer season!

From the Directors

Wild Game Feed Recap

The 4th annual Wild Game Feed was held Feb 21 with a dog sledding theme. Helen Corlew and her team of Samoyed's gave rides to the Winter Snow Fest participants and provided a great look at the sport of mushing.

Lakeshore at Red Willow Bible CampA great Wild Game Feed supper was served, with pheasant, buffalo, elk and fish served up for the guests. The silent auction closed at 7pm, when the speakers were introduced.

Helen Corlew also shared her experiences with her sled dogs. Then Mary Ann and Jim Miller from Prairie Bilt Dog Sleds spoke about their business making sleds for mushers around the world. They demonstrated how their sleds work and talked about the sled dogs that they raise.

The evening was a great success, and we are thankful for the board members, volunteers and staff who worked so hard to make it a great day!

Program Director Update

After saying farewell to Abbi Johnson on September 30, we have been actively seeking a Program Director to join our staff and take on the leadership for youth retreats and the summer camping season.

We are continuing to receive applications from very qualified individuals, and interviewing some excellent candidates. We hope to have the Program Director position filled by the end of March.
