Camp Welcomes New Staff
Allison Stoltz: New Program Director
The search is over for a new program director for Red Willow Ministries! We are happy to introduce Allison Stoltz as our new full-time Program Director.
She hails from Bismarck, and graduated from Minnesota State University, Moorhead in December 2008 with an Elementary Education Degree. She started at the camp on April 14.
Allison has experience as a counselor at Camp of the Cross near Garrison, ND, and was on the leadership staff at Agape Kure Beach Ministries in North Carolina.
Some of her favorite pastimes are listening to music, watching movies, sewing and knitting, and swing dancing. Oh, and she really likes to be around kids! Allison says that she's "always up for an adventure!"
We thank God for sending Allison to us as the summer season approaches. We welcome our friends and neighbors to stop by the camp and get to know the newest member of the Red Willow team.
Amy Ecklund: Environmental Education
We welcome Amy Ecklund to the Red Willow Bible Camp family! Amy comes to us from Wisconsin, where she graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point with a degree in Youth Programming and Camp Management.
Amy has served at several camps from California to New York. Her past experiences in outdoor ministry and especially developing Environmental Education Programs will serve her well as she lays the groundwork for our upcoming camping season.
Amy has a passion for Bible Camps, and loves to share her skills at biking, hiking, camping, and anything that takes her outdoors. She will be leading the Outback Challenge camp for 7th-9th graders who live in the tipi village for 4 days. She will develop a nature curriculum for Kindergarten through 12th graders, and train the counselors to lead their cabin groups on nature hikes.
Funding for a portion of Amy's work is provided by a Barry Foundation grant that was awarded to the camp last fall, and by the OWLS grant from the ND Game and Fish Department which will provide funding for many improvements to the camp trails, learning sites and land stewardship program.
Jack Ndende: International Counselor
26-year-old university student, Jack Ndende will join our staff on May 23 and be a counselor for boys this summer. He is from the Central African Republic, our sister synod in Africa, and a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the CAR.
Jack will spend the summer at the camp, and we will have a host family, or several families, inviting him to spend weekends and holidays with them during the summer. This will give Jack a chance to experience our culture first hand and an opportunity to worship in area churches during the summer. Any families interested in helping as a host family are encouraged to contact the camp for more information.
We will host a community gathering during the summer, to bring together people from the synod who have traveled to the CAR, who have done fundraising for various projects in the CAR, or who would like to meet Jack and our summer staff.
Upcoming at Camp
Spring Camp Work Days
By Ken Gilbertson, Site Manager
WOW! That one word says it all about the volunteers who come here to work at Red Willow Bible Camp.
This spring we invite you to come out and spend a day with us. We have little projects like raking, or big projects like installing shingles on the chapel roof. We can accommodate your schedule and even make arrangements in the Retreat Center, or we also have camper hook-ups, if you'd like to spend the night.
This is your camp, so keep up the good work! Please give me a call, I'll work with you to come up with a date to come out and give us a hand.
See the Looking Ahead calendar for dates this month!
Summer camp starts this month! Check the Summer 2009 promotional materials for more information about our camp offerings.
